Calgary-Buffalo:
Liberal candidate Kent Hehr has been elected in Calgary-Buffalo. He is Deputy Liberal leader and education/energy critic.
This is commonly known as the safest Liberal seat in Calgary, held by Hehr since 2008.
Calgary-Currie:
PC candidate Christine Cusanelli has been elected in Calgary-Currie. Cusanelli is a school principal and a member of "Chickwagon!", an organization of women committed to bettering the community.
Alberta Party MLA Dave Taylor previously held this riding and decided not to seek re-election.
Calgary-Elbow:
Premier Alison Redford has held onto her seat.
She was first elected in 2008, defeating the Liberal candidate by a little over 300 votes, with the Wildrose candidate a distant third. This election’s Wildrose candidate will likely make a better showing.
Calgary Glenmore:
PC candidate Linda Johnson has defeated former Wildrose leader Paul Hinman in Calgary-Glenmore.
Linda Johnson runs a small business in Calgary. As the PC Party’s southern Alberta field director, she worked with MLAs and volunteers across Calgary and southern Alberta.
Wildrose candidate Paul Hinman picked up this traditionally PC riding in a 2009 by-election. Hinman served as MLA for Cardston-Taber-Warner from 2004 to 2008, the only Alliance member to win a seat.Calgary-Greenway:
PC minister Manmeet Bhullar has been elected in Calgary-Greenway.
He had faced a challenge from controversial Wildrose candidate and church minister Ron Leech, who recently suggested in a debate that he would have an advantage in representing this multicultural riding because he’s white.
Calgary-Hawkwood:
PC candidate Jason Luan has won the riding of Calgary-Hawkwood.
Luan defeated nine rivals to win the PC nomination in the new riding of Calgary-Hawkwood.
Luan came to Calgary from China more than 25 years ago and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Masters Degree in Social Work.
This is one of two additional ridings created in Calgary under the 2010 boundary distribution. Calgary-Mountain View:
Liberal incumbent David Swann has won a third term in Calgary-Mountain View.
He was elected as Leader of the Official Opposition of Alberta in 2008.
He stepped down as leader in 2010. He currently serves as critic for Health and Wellness.
Calgary-West:
PC candidate Ken Hughes has won the riding of Calgary-West, holding onto it for the PC Party.
Former PC MLA Ron Liepert was not seeking re-election. There was controversy over the nomination process to replace him as the Tory candidate. Shiraz Sharrif initially won, but the party ordered a second vote after finding evidence of irregularities. Shariff lost the second nomination vote to Ken Hughes, the former chair of Alberta Health Service.
