An Edmonton woman facing a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death of her mother made her first court appearance Wednesday morning.

Kirsten Lamb appeared before a judge in provincial court.

The 27-year-old woman with long brown hair told the judge in a clear, composed voice that she does not have a lawyer. Her case has been held over until Jan. 20.

She was remanded into custody until her next court appearance.

Edmonton police arrested Kirsten Lamb on Dec. 26 and charged her with first-degree murder in the death of her mother, 49-year-old Sandra Lamb, who was found dead in her Capilano home on Nov. 29.

Police went to the home to check on Lamb’s welfare after a neighbour complained that her dog was barking inside.

An autopsy was completed, but police are not releasing the cause of death.

An online obituary identified Kirsten as one of Lamb’s three daughters.
