A local World War II hero and legendary Alberta bush pilot has died.

Cedric Mah passed away on Friday at the age of 88.

Mah battled racism during his time in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for carrying out daring missions over southern Asia during WWII.

A memorial service for Mah will be held Friday, May 6 at 3 p.m. at the Alberta Aviation Museum.
