Edmonton Eskimo defensive end Adam Braidwood and three other people have been charged with Aggravated Assault and Forcible Confinement after an alleged incident on Friday, November 19th.

RCMP members responded to a call at 5:35pm on Friday afternoon southeast of the City of Spruce Grove after a witness reportedly observed a man being forced into the trunk of a car by several individuals. When officers arrived, they found two men standing outside of the vehicle, and two men inside of the vehicle.

One of the men who was outside of the vehicle was not wearing a shirt, and had injuries on his arms and legs. The man with the injuries was transported to hospital in Stony Plain.

Investigators believe that the man was a victim of alleged assault and forcible confinement.

The three men who remained at the scene were all charged with Aggravated Assault and Forcible Confinement.

In addition to Adam Braidwood, Shane Gerald Bergstrom and Taylor Joel Kurtz were also charged. The three men have been released on bail on promise to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on Wednesday November 24, 2010.

Edmonton Eskimos GM Eric Tillman released a statement on Tuesday afternoon shortly after news of the charges came out.

“Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP notified the club of the charges against Adam Braidwood. As the matter is now before the courts, the club will not offer further comment until the legal process has concluded”.

Braidwood has been with the Eskimos for five years.
