A fraternity at the University of Alberta is coming under heat for alleged hazing at their initiation.

The Gateway newspaper - the university's official student newspaper - has reported allegations that the Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) fraternity subjects its recruits to disgusting and disturbing initiations.

The paper reports that it has obtained video of the hazing from January 2010. It allegedly shows DKE members telling recruits to eat their own vomit, closing them in a plywood box, depriving them of sleep, and forcing them to remain in uncomfortable positions for long periods of time, all while being yelled at and insulted.

An anonymous alumnus of the fraternity made allegations in the article, describing his own initiation experience as traumatic and abusive.

In Gateway's article, he says "I'd call it hazing, I call it abuse. I think the better word is abuse. You get abused, absolutely."

The University's Dean of Students Frank Robinson is expected to respond to the allegations Thursday afternoon.
