Alberta teen dies in snowmobile crash

A teenage boy has died in a tragic snowmobile crash near the community of Neerlandia, Alberta.

The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Tyson Mast, a grade 10 student at Barrhead Composite High school, and the youngest of three children.

RCMP believe the teen died after hitting a tree while riding his snowmobile from a church function to his friend's house. When he didn't arrive, friends and family launched a search for him. His body was discovered in a remote location,

Tyson was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as factors. The snowmobile was also reportedly functioning properly at the time of the crash.

A memorial service for Tyson is being planned for next week.
