Postal worker allegedly shot with toy gun while delivering mail

EDMONTON - A Canada Post employee was taken to hospital with minor injuries on Tuesday afternoon after she was allegedly shot with a toy weapon.

The postal worker was shot in the leg while she was delivering mail to homes in west Edmonton.

She reportedly heard a pop, and saw a yellow vehicle driving by.

A yellow SUV that matched the description of the vehicle was found in a school parking lot about 15 blocks away from where the alleged incident took place.

Two youths have now been taken into custody.

Investigators have not identified the exact weapon that might have been involved in the incident, but they believe it was a bb or airsoft type gun.

Police say that incidents with toy weapons are taken very seriously.

A small piece of ammunition from the toy gun is still embedded in the postal worker's leg.

CUPW, the union that represents postal workers says the employee is in shock.

The investigation continues.
