Shaye Ganam
Anchor
Shaye Ganam teams up with Andrea Engel to head up the Morning News on Global Edmonton, our city's most-watched morning newscast. He returns later in the day to anchor the Noon News Hour.
Shaye has called Edmonton home since the day he was born. He attended both the University of Alberta and NAIT. His first job in broadcasting was in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, where he did “everything you can do in a TV station.”
Since September of 1998, Shaye has been an integral part of Global Edmonton's news team. His favourite part of the job is being on top of a breaking story. Shaye loves bringing news to the viewers as it happens. His proudest professional moment came when he anchored live coverage of Wayne Gretzky's retirement, a significant day for the City of Champions. Shaye says he was glad to be involved in delivering the story to so many people.
Shaye and his wife Trish are busy with their two children and their Labrador named Riley. He also has an interest in music and has played and taught guitar for several years.
Shaye is also a big sports fan, playing several sports himself. When he's not working, playing guitar or a sport, he can be found cheering on his hometown teams, the Edmonton Eskimos and the Edmonton Oilers.
