Kendra Slugoski
Reporter
Kendra Slugoski has been a member of the Global Edmonton team since 2005.
Kendra was born and raised in Northern Manitoba. She moved to Brandon to study Broadcasting and graduated with a diploma from Assiniboine Community College. During her schooling in Brandon she worked at CKX, learning how the news comes together behind the camera. After a summer practicum at Global Saskatoon, Kendra settled in Saskatchewan for the next few years as a reporter and weekend anchor. One of her highlights includes flying with the snowbirds. Her next move was to Calgary where for the next few years she continued as a reporter and fill-in anchor.
Since Kendra went to College right after high school she decided to take a break and travel. For the next year Kendra backpacked all around Australia.. and through the scorching outback. She worked along the way picking tomatoes and waitressing to pay for her adventure. She continued to explore Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Kendra calls the experience absolutely amazing! She returned to Alberta with debt.. and a desire to get back to reporting
Kendra says she loves coming to work not knowing where the day is going to take her. Whether it's out at a farm in the country... or late breaking stories at City Hall the challenge of putting together a comprehensive story in just a couple of hours is what has kept her reporting for the past decade.
When not covering the days events Kendra loves spending time with her husband Tony as well as playing or watching sports. She likes running, and relaxing on a beach with a good book. Kendra says Edmonton's only downfall is that it's so far from her family and her 3 hilarious nephews!
