New homes in Slave Lake vandalized

SLAVE LAKE - Two Slave Lake families working to rebuild after May wildfires left them homeless are facing yet another obstacle - their new homes that are still under construction have been vandalized.

RCMP say two homes in different construction areas of town were damaged sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning. After breaking into one of the homes, vandal(s) kicked in doors and smashed windows as well as newly installed drywall. In the other home, a window was smashed.

Both homes were locked when the damage was done to them.

Staff Sgt. Roberta McKale with the Slave Lake RCMP is reminding residents and contractors to remain vigilant in locking up tools and work areas after hours, and to report all suspicious activities to Slave Lake RCMP at (780) 849-3999.
