EDMONTON - A Newfoundland man appeared in Stony Plain Provincial Court on Wednesday morning to face more than 40 charges.

Shannon Bradford Dixon, 34, is facing 43 charges from various jurisdictions across Alberta, including bestiality, extortion, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, and breach of conditions.

Seven women have come forward so far, claiming that they met Dixon on online dating sites before allegedly falling victim to a scheme.

The women are from Spruce Grove, Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park, Grande Prairie and Calgary.

Police believe there may be others out there who have been victimized by Dixon, and encourage them to contact police.

Dixon is currently in custody, and will appear in court again on January 25th.

He was returned to Alberta on January 10th by officials after serving a 10 month sentence in Ontario for criminal harassment and uttering threats.
