A new phone scheme has TELUS ringing the alarm. TELUS customers have reportedly been receiving calls from a 905-395-XXXX number with the following recorded message, "Hello, because you are a valued TELUS customer you will receive 3,000 travel dollars. To accept press 1.”

Customers who press 1 are then reportedly connected to a salesperson who claims to be from TELUS and then attempts to extract personal information. The company believes the collected information is likely being used for identity theft.

The communication giant believes their customers are being targetted because it is a widely known brand, and the the culprits are likely using an auto-dialer from outside of TELUS’ network.

Anyone who receives such a call should hang up immediately. If you believe you may have given your personal information to a phony TELUS representitive you should call police or or call TELUS’ fraud team at 1-877-567-2062.
