Julie Matthews is Edmonton's Trouble Shooter, one of the busiest and hardest working people at Global Edmonton. She helps you protect your hard-earned money so you don't get ripped off, and informs you of the latest scams and consumer recalls.

Julie grew up on an acreage near Bruderheim, AB. Her broadcasting career has taken her from CKSA-TV & radio in Lloydminster and CFCN TV in Lethbridge to CHBC TV Kelowna.

Memorable moments in Kelowna included covering the Okanagan Mountain Park fire which destroyed many homes, and chasing a suspect from court...through downtown Kelowna (and several buildings) to get an exclusive interview.

Longing to be closer to her family, Julie moved to Edmonton in 2004 to become Global Edmonton's Trouble Shooter, and work for the station she grew up watching.

The Government of Alberta has recognized Julie five times for her work as Global Edmonton's Trouble Shooter. In 2011 she received two Consumer Champion Awards from Service Alberta for stories on protecting used car buyers, and educating consumers on the process of civil court. In 2010, she received the same two awards for her investigations entitled "Protecting Seniors" and "Rental Rights". She was also recognized in 2006 for an investigation into unscrupulous contractors.

Julie has received two regional RTNDA awards; one for her story into life on the front lines with a Forest Fire Attack Crew, and the other in 2010 for her investigative reporting on an animal cruelty case.

Julie is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

What does she love most about her job? The results she can get for consumers.

Julie loves being a mom to two adorable and busy boys. In what spare time she has, Julie enjoys dancing, catching the latest movie, reading, scrapbooking and travelling.

She and her husband are avid snorkelers, and look forward to crossing another exotic destination off their "bucket list."
