Industrial fire now out

A large oil tank caught fire Wednesday morning at an industrial area in east Edmonton at 7437 18 street.

The blaze broke out at Thermex Metal Treating Ltd. at at 10:00am, and a second alarm was called soon after. Crews have shut down some roads in the area, but no one was evacuated.

The fire started in a large tank of quenching oil, a pit used to quickly cool metal at the plant.

An air monitoring unit was brought in to ensure safe air quality for those in the area.

There are no reports of injuries at this time and the fire is now out.
