Producer Terry Wickham unveiled the lineup for this year’s edition of the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, which runs from Aug. 4 to 7, on Wednesday morning — weeks after every his counterparts across the country did so.

Fans will get to groove in Gallagher Park with the likes of flamenco ambassadors Gipsy Kings, Scottish rocker KT Tunstall and up ”˜n coming hippy collective Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.

If The Amazing Kreskin isn’t weird enough, Oscar-winning actor and activist Tim Robbins seems like another curious programming choice.

Robbins, who was Susan Sarandon’s longtime partner, released his first album, Tim Robbins and the Rogues Gallery Band, last year. He’s the son of late folksinger Gil Robbins, a member of The Highwaymen in the ’60s.

This year’s Folk Fest also includes a mix of young female singer-songwriters — Sarah Jarosz, Pieta Brown, Ida May, Lissie, The Secret Sisters — and old blues veterans such as John Mayall, Taj Mahal, The Holmes Brothers, and Rusty Reed.

Other performers include country artist Lyle Lovett, Mary Gauthier, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, London folk act Noah and The Whale, and The McDades, featuring multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah McDade and his new kidney. The Edmonton natives and band of siblings were forced to cancel last year’s appearance because his kidneys were failing and he needed dialysis. He ended up receiving a kidney from his cousin in December.

Eighteen artists, including Consort native k.d. lang, rockabilly legend Wanda Jackson, and indie-folk act Deer Tick were either previously announced or leaked on various websites.

Tickets are available as of Wednesday, June 1 through Ticketmaster and the Folk Fest office, 780-429-1999.

Four-day transferable passes for adults are $169, non-transferable passes are $149 — an increase of $10 for each. Evening passes for adults are up five dollars to $55.

There is no Wednesday night fundraiser/concert this year, but the Folk Fest doesn’t rule out bringing it back next year.
