Residents near Gibbons had an unusual view Thursday morning as 25 robotic dinosaurs descended from the sky.

The robots are part of the new Jurassic Forest & Learning Centre. They were brought in by a Bell 212 helicopter, the only way to transport the large robots.

"We have ranges of weight here from 2,000 llbs right up to 3,200 lbs." said Greg Suess, a staff member at the park. "They are five, almost six meters high, so we're dealing with 17-18 foot creatures."

The privately run recreational centre features 2.5 kilometers of trails that give families the chance to learn about dinosaurs, prehistoric animals, flora and fauna and is set to open at the end of July.

Staff at the park hope that the realistic robots will provide a fascinating learning opportunity.

"They move, the eyes blink, they roar, they move their arms and legs. These are total robotic experience." said Suess.

Jurassic Forest is located 3 kilometers north of Gibbons on Highway 28.
